In the two weeks since I picked up Alex, he has put on 12 lbs and now weighs 38 pounds from his former weight of only 26 pounds! Oh my, far too skinny for this boy!. He still needs to put on a few more pounds but, is looking so much better. While Alex was sedated being neutered the Vet took some x-rays of him. Unfortunately, we discovered Alex has severe hip dysphasia, degenerative bone disease in one knee, and a bee bee lodged near his spine. He is also heartworm positive. Poor Alex! He has had a very hard life! Because of all of Alex's health problems we have decided not to put Alex through the traditional heartworm treatment. Instead we will start Alex on Heartguard. The Heartguard will kill all of the "baby" heartworms and the adult heartworms will just die off on their own. Within a year, Alex should test heartworm negative. Alex continues to be a wonderful, loving boy! He is the most gentle, sweet boy ever. He is still working on his housebreaking but, is learning quickly! Alex is a very sweet, affectionate, well behaved boy. He already knows sit, down, and play dead. He loves attention but, will not jump up to ask for it. Instead, he sits in front of you and places his paw on your knee all the while gazing at you with is gorgeous brown eyes and begging you to pet him. I think Alex would make and excellent therapy dog. Alex is crate trained and gets along good with other dogs. Rose is a beautiful lab/shepherd mix that weighs around 40 pounds. She is a little over 1 year old and is very sweet. She has a gentle demeanor, loves to play fetch with her squeaker ball and would make an excellent companion. She has a beautiful all black coat that is longer in length. She is currently enrolled in obedience classes and would make an excellent therapy dog someday because of her gentleness. Cal is a very sweet little boy. At 12 weeks old, he weighs around 12-15 lbs. He isn't going to be a very big fella...30-35 lbs at the most. Mom was a white lab and daddy was a wire-haired terrier...and this is what you get. His head definitely has the shape of a terrier. Cal has had 2 sets of puppy shots and his adoption fee covers his neuter. This little guy is very playful and loving. He sometimes can be a little shy, but is overcoming that as he is around new sounds and different situations. He is very food motivated, so he is a quick learner. Alexa is a gorgeous 5 - 6 month old gray/white hound mix. She was found in the median of the interstate with Buster (also up for adoption - see his info on our LARGE DOG PAGE). These two dogs were searching for food :(. Alexa is very sweet and loving, but also very playful because, after all, she's still a pup! She gets along well with other dogs and shows no interest in cats. Alexa currently weighs just 25 pounds, but she is underweight and should weigh about 30 pounds now, so we feel she will weigh in around 45 pounds when full grown. BONNIE BLUE isn't really blue, certainly not in color and definitely not in spirt! Bonnie is actually a tri-colored girl, black, brown and white and her personality is far from being blue! As you can clearly see, she's a smiling beauty! Bonnie was found as a stray ... not only had someone dumped her, but they had dumped her with her puppies and they were all starving! One of our rescue moms just happened to be driving by and saw this family in much need of help and well, the rest, as they say, is history! Bonnie's puppies are all now in their new homes enjoying life and now it's Bonnie's turn! We believe this girl is a beagle or hound mix. She is very smart and very gentle and loving. She is housetrained and fully vetted including her spay! Bonnie gets along fine with everyone! Other dogs are good, cats would probably be okay if they are cats who are not fearful of dogs, and children would be a bonus for this sweetheart! We just can't say enough good things about Bonnie Blue! Whoever dumped her certainly lost a great girl!

SHILOH is 2 years old, heartworm negative, neutered and up-to-date on all of his shots. This very handsome little guy is a very sweet little boy who has a great deal of confidence in himself! He gets along great with other dogs and even cats! Shiloh is already housebroken and will whine at the door when he needs to go outside. He is very cuddly and is a bit jealous when his human wants to give attention to any other dog in the pack other than him! But he is a great dog who will make the perfect companion to just about any child of any age! Shiloh is a small/medium sized fellow, weighing in at 28 pounds. He was rescued as a stray, but he must have had a family somewhere, because he has such wonderful manners. We tried to find his owners, to no avail, but their loss can be your gain!

Henry turned 5 years old in October 2007. Henry came to us when he was about 2 years old and he was adopted into a loving home. His wonderful, kind guardian passed away though and now Henry needs a new kind loving home to call his own. Henry was originally rescued by one of our members. He was living in the woods - starving slowly and had been hit by a car months before and his badly damaged back leg was absolutely ruined; dislocated and broken so severely that he dragged it. The pain this poor little guy endured must have been just awful; it broke our hearts to see how he had suffered. The vetertinarian had to amputate his back leg clear up to the hip joint and not long after that, Henry just blossomed because he felt so good!! This does not slow Henry down one bit; he has learned to run around with his three strong legs and he is very happy. Henry is a beautifully marked tri-color Beagle and he is neutered, up to date on all his shots and on Heartworm preventative of course. He is housetrained, doggy-door trained and a very, very sweet and well-behaved boy. Henry is great with other dogs and cats too. This boy would love to get settled back in a wonderful home ... hope it's yours!
